Hello Skating Families!

We are thrilled to be welcoming all skating families into the Stirling Arena. We are happy to be able to bring our trusted CanSkate and STARSkate Programs to our surrounding Communities.  We are excited to offer Tuesday and Thursday Pre-CanSkate & CanSkate sessions again this season. We have a wonderful coaching staff who are all excited to work with your children! Staff include Lindsay Newbery, Kandis Kelly, Sarah Allman, Leanne Rosborough, Makaela Bell and Victoria Cooney.  All Pre-Can & CanSkaters must wear a CSA-approved helmet with the sticker up to Stage 6, and it is required to wear a cage for Pre-CanSkate and encouraged for Stage 1-2 in CanSkate. Please ensure your skater dresses warmly, including gloves and skates tied tightly for their session. If you would like guidance on how to tie skates, please see a coach. Please remember to leave name tags each week.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact President Crystal Weese at [email protected] or CanSkate Coach Co-ordinator and Registrar Lindsay Newbery, [email protected]

Application Deadline: November 12th 2021

Application Package - Click Here

Dear Applicant and Family,

The Barry Wilson Memorial Fund was created by family and friends in the name of Barry Wilson after his passing in May 2011. Having been the Stirling-Rawdon and District Recreation Center Manager for 25 years and an avid volunteer with the Stirling District Minor Hockey Association for 40 years, Barry enjoyed seeing every child play the sport he loved. The Barry Wilson Memorial Fund will assist in paying the registration costs for families who could use help to pay for their child to experience the sport of hockey, or figure skating.

Stirling District Minor Hockey House League , Rep players, and Stirling Figure Skating Club are welcome to apply. To apply complete the following application as per the guidelines outlined. Successful applicants will receive up to a maximum of 80% funding towards their Stirling District Minor Hockey, or Stirling Figure Skating registration fee. Applicants will be narrowed down based on a point system criteria set out by The Barry Wilson Memorial Fund Committee and the top ranked applicants will be entered in a lottery to determine the successful applicants.

It is the intent for The Barry Wilson Memorial Fund to allocate only the interest earned off the principle investment each year towards successful applicants’ registration fees. For the 2020/2021 hockey, and figure skating season, The Barry Wilson Memorial Fund will assist approximately 4 to 6 children.

There is good news for Hastings Prince Edward!

The low number of COVID-19 cases in Hastings Prince Edward means it will be one of the first regions in the province to reopen. This means we can return to skating. Please visit our registration page for more information: https://www.stirlingskate.ca/registration.html

The province has announced that the stay-at-home order will be lifted for three health units, including Hastings Prince Edward Public Health on Wednesday.
Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Public Health and Renfrew County and District Health Unit are the other two regions that will move back to the framework at the Green-Prevent level.
